A new mini catalog and Sale-A-Bration

I am so excited — really! — for the debut of the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog and January-February 2022 Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  Each of those kicks off today, January 4!  The Mini runs through June 30 and Sale-A-Bration through February 28.

The word “mini” is a bit of a joke, I’d say, as that publication is 92 pages (including front and back covers).  In contrast, the “holiday” mini that concluded yesterday was 80 pages. I can say confidently that there is something for every stamper in this mini!  Find the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog here.

If you’ve stamped with Stampin’ Up! for more than just a few months, you know what Sale-A-Bration is all about:

  • Shop and earn free stuff
  • Host and earn free stuff
  • Join as a demonstrator and earn free stuff

I think you see the trend!  To learn more about these opportunities, find the January-February 2022 Sale-A-Bration Brochure here.

I am quite surprised that so many of you have not received your copy of these publications, which were supposed to have been mailed via Stampin’ Up! in early December.  If you are wondering if I overlooked you, please let me know so that I can fix this!

Last chance for the Last Chance promotion!

Before we plunge into the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog and January-February 2022 Sale-A-Bration Brochure — which kick off tomorrow! — don’t miss out on retiring items from the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog. That link will get you to the list of retiring products (some with significant discounts), but being on the list doesn’t mean that the item is still available. But it’s worth a try! If you wish to shop with me, click here to reach the Last Chance area of my Stampin’ Up! online storefront. Thank you!

Christmas to Remember: Evergreens

I love to create a tag for the front of a card, and this Jingle Jump example came together quickly. My goal was “winter serenity,” and although we have yet to see anything but a few flurries here, I have no doubt we will see something like this before long. I hope so, anyway!

It’s no coincidence that the embossed white panel behind the tag is 2¾” wide, as it was the perfect size for one of the Wintry 3D embossing folders. Also, cutting the Evening Evergreen scrap 2″ wide meant there was no trimming necessary to perfectly span the tag. However, it’s useful to have the scrap a bit longer (2¾”) so you have something to hold on to when feeding it into the punch. The snowy, sparkly “hill” was cut by hand.

When I first started designing the Jingle Jump cards, the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog — what we used to call the “holiday” mini — was not yet out. Happily, there were new or new-to-me holiday products in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog, and I was able to start designing with that. All of the products used on this card are from the Annual Catalog, except for the retired Sparkle Glimmer Paper.

Merriest Moments: Christmas Greetings

A big greeting is required for this bold Christmas card, and I am glad I kept this host-only set. Truly, it’s a challenge to have enough sentiments for my Jingle Jump sessions, so I have several retired sets just for that purpose.

I have used many sheets of this Sale-A-Bration paper; all the prints were excellent, and this one was suitable for occasions in addition to Christmas. Well done, Stampin’ Up! — and stampers can look forward to more fabulous Designer Series Paper during Sale-A-Bration in January-February 2022!

This is another example of the power of color consistency when using Stampin’ Up! products. This is a pretty simple card, but having the sentiment and holly leaves match the patterned paper provides a kind of energy, I think.

Today begins my Christmas vacation, and I’m surprised (and a little dismayed) that the first four items on my to-do list for this time off begin “Clean up …” — and that’s just the digital housework!

From a practical standpoint, I have always loved the time around New Year’s, when so many aspects of my life can be re-set. Let’s build some shelves! Let’s go through the boxes of old memories that no one else wanted and scan or toss! Let’s make a trip (or two, or three) to Salvation Army! Let’s get our tax things in order! Let’s plan next year’s veg garden! Let’s sleep in!

What’s on your list?

Snowflake Wishes

Perhaps it’s because I’m nordic by marriage, but I always like snowflakes in a red and white design. I confess that although I learned to knit when I was young (thanks for trying, Aunt Edna!), I was horrible at it, so I have to create paper designs instead.

This is another Jingle Jump card, and this one uses stamps and dies from last year’s “holiday” mini that are in the current Annual Catalog. So no retiring items to worry about here, except for the Sparkle Glimmer Paper that has been gone for some time.

Inside is a greeting from Christmas to Remember.

In the spirit of international friendship, we have garlands of Norwegian flags on our tree this year, as well as small Hummel ornaments representing my heritage. Over the weekend we made 150 potato cakes with Peter and his parents for a family gathering. We do an excellent job, seriously, and zip-top bags with extras go home with the guests. What they don’t know is how many are still here …

People have asked if potato cakes are the same as lefse, and my answer is — maybe. When we were in Norway, someone was demonstrating the art of lefse, and they didn’t look the same as ours (except that they were pale, like most Norwegian food, LOL). My stepson, Peter’s dad, has his mother’s recipe, which is unsettlingly vague: “Boil potatoes and mash with margarine and cream. Add flour and cook on griddle.” Lots of room for error there, so there is a bit of sampling of the early cakes to see if we’ve got the balance right. Other than that, I keep to my job (rolling) and mostly do not get involved in the drama over the quantity of flour, the thickness and diameter of the rolled balls, the potato cake(s) dropped on the floor during transfer from griddle to cooling area, etc., etc. I will say that since our team took over the job three years ago, I have eaten more than my required-as-an-inlaw one potato cake at Christmas!

Merriest Moments: the Most Wonderful Time

For someone who doesn’t really care for poinsettias, I certainly have used them often this year! The images in Merriest Moments (happily, not retiring) are not too big and not too small, and the sentiments are excellent. (The one on the label on this Jingle Jump card, however, comes from Tidings & Trimmings.)

I was so happy with the way the buffalo check paper looks with these die cuts, turning what could be a “mature” card (never mind the song going through your head right now) into something more fun. And far be it from me to say maturity and fun can’t coexist — just ask the 5th grader!

Although there is a stamp for the center of the poinsettia, we used a 1/4″ circle punched from the retired Gold Glimmer paper.

Encircled in Warmth: Joyful Season

Note: The Encircled in Warmth stamp set and Red Velvet 12″ x 12″ Paper Pack are retiring and only available through January 3 or while supplies last!

Once again this year, we have had wonderful holiday Designer Series Paper, and I especially loved this Sale-A-Bration plaid. When paired with the ornate border, I thought this Jingle Jump card felt a bit Scottish.

If you check page 23 of the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog, you’ll see that the images in Encircled in Warmth coordinate with the Encircled in Beauty dies. Of course, lots of other dies can be used with this set as well — or none at all! Here, we used a retired circle punch simply for the sake of efficiency in a big group.

Sparkle of the Season: Noel

Talk about a surprise! I never expected to see Sparkle of the Season and the coordinating die set, Seasonal Swirls, on the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog Retiring List! Often I am stubborn about buying another floral bundle, or stars bundle, or wreath bundle, but I was wrong, wrong, wrong to resist! I love the versatile, multi-season images and the ability to layer the wreath stamps and die cuts.

This is a case where you do NOT want to order the stamps and dies as a bundle — although the stamp set is not discounted, the Seasonal Swirls dies are available at an amazing 40% off!

Sparkle of the Season | This stamp set (with the coordinating Ornate Frames dies) really does provide images for several seasons! Please click to read more! | Stampin' Up! | HeartfeltInkspiration.com | Debra Burgin

Using a circle die approximately the same size as the die-cut wreath, I created a template to mark a circle on the white panel. Stamping the evergreen bough at 12:00, 4:00, and 8:00 gave me a pretty even start, then I stamped the bough again in each gap.

The textured background and sparkly wreath overlay make me happy, and every Jingle Jump card I saw stampers create was absolutely beautiful!

Christmas Season: Thank you

If you have looked at the  July-December 2021 Mini Catalog Retiring List (and marked your mini accordingly), you know that Christmas Season is not on that list! Hooray for that, as this stamp set and the coordinating Christmas Pinecone dies have gotten lots of use in the past several months. Why stop now?

So, before I move ahead with more Christmas cards and (eventually) products from the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog, I thought I’d use these images on a note card with more of an autumn feel.

Christmas Season | Art Gallery | Never mind the name of the stamp set! Leaves and berries happen in autumn, too! Please click to read more! | Stampin' Up! | HeartfeltInkspiration.com | Debra Burgin

As you can see, this is another example of an embossed “first layer” in the same color as the card base. I am very happy that the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder will be with us for a few more months, at least!

Christmas Season | Art Gallery | Never mind the name of the stamp set! Leaves and berries happen in autumn, too! Please click to read more! | Stampin' Up! | HeartfeltInkspiration.com | Debra Burgin

This idea started when I was creating place cards for our Thanksgiving table. I’d guess not many people do this anymore (and really, everyone sits at the same place here each year), but I was itching to stamp something!

Before making a slew of these, I practiced on pieces of cut-to-size copy paper so I could figure out placement and colors. Then they went together in a snap, including cleanup!

Do you see my pattern? (1) Three leaves diagonally. (2) Four leaves at compass corners (NSEW). (3) Four sets of berries as fillers.
