Amazing Year: Enjoy Your Day

Not only do I love the 2022-2024 In Colors, but also the In Color products this year! Click the link to see most of them, but not my favorite, below.

The Tea Bouquet Cards & Envelopes coordinate with the Cup of Tea Bundle, yes, but I think they’re amazing because:

  • There are 20 standard-sized, pre-printed card bases and 20 coordinating envelopes for just $10.
  • All five 2022-2024 In Colors are included.
  • Each of the In Colors has a different pattern on the card base and envelope.
  • The cards coordinate not only with the Tea Boutique 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (#158659), but also the In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Assortments for 2022-2024 (#159253).

How simple is it to create a card when this much has been done for you?

Simplicity is exactly what I was looking for the other day when I returned from a walk with a friend (and a tour of our yard). I needed to work ahead with some birthday cards, and I was looking forward to coloring this set. I cut my white panel to 2¾” x 4″ and a black mat to 3″ x 4¼”, set up the Stamparatus to stamp the bouquet image and the inside sentiment, and began the coloring. In no time I had four cards done and in their envelopes!

And then, I applied sunscreen, put on a hat, and it was back to the garden to continue my work!

Simply Fabulous: Let’s Celebrate

I know I have had a set like Simply Fabulous — posies, leaves, sprigs — from other catalogs, but there was something about that cheerful card on page 40 that just made me want this. I knew I would get my $18 out of it!

Now to figure out how Stampin’ Up! made that card. Did you know you can see the “ingredients” for samples in each Stampin’ Up! catalog on my Resources page? Yes, I just looked it up!

The catalog sample is a note card, but I changed the proportions to fit a full-size card. Plus, I wanted to test drive the Dots & Spots die. I must tell you, it’s kind of hard on the cutting plates — but worth it!

There is a little circle stamp that can be used for the flower center, but it seemed a better design choice to fill it in, so I did that with a Stampin’ Blends marker to tie in with the circles on the white mat.

Cactus Cuties: On Point

Sometimes I want a fun and cute birthday card for a fun and cute friend! This card from April’s All-Occasions Stamp-a-Stack was just what I needed. The Cactus Cuties set lives up to its name: the images are adorable and easy to mix and match, and the sentiments are … on point!

The background panel we used was from the host-only Pattern Party DSP; of course, you could try another small, neutral print to go for a more desert-like effect.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a blooming cactus, so I used some creative license!

Sending Smiles: Across the Miles

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s Stamp Review Crew blog hop featuring Sending Smiles! I loved making this card with lots of Orchid Oasis.

I don’t think I’ve bought the In Color assortment packs of 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper for a few years, but this year these patterns are winners for me. The stripes, dots, plaid and floral designs will get used often!

To balance the strong black of the pierced tag front, I heat embossed the sentiment with black powder — but not before omitting the first word! If you don’t know how to do that, click the Project Sheets graphic, below, and follow step 5 of the directions.

Sending Smiles offers so much to work with, as you saw yesterday. But don’t overlook the wonderful Designer Tags dies. This item could be the sleeper of this catalog!

Stamp Review Crew: Sending Smiles

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Stamp-Review-Crew-blog-banner2-1024x256.png

Welcome to another Stamp Review Crew blog hop — the first one of the Stampin’ Up! 2022-2023 Annual Catalog year. Our international lineup of stampers will be showing off Sending Smiles (see page 14), and I’m so excited to see what my stampin’ friends have for you! Not a good time for you to hop? Remember that you can click the banner above to access the entire lineup of participants, no matter how recently the hop occurred.

You may have just visited My Paper Life, the blog of Kristie Wilson. You must look around her blog to see more of her talent!

The day I started working on this card, I had just received the Designer Tags die set. I knew right away that was the direction I would take, although if you notice I like using tags and small images on my cards, you probably are not surprised. This sweet cornflower-like image fit perfectly.

Orchid Oasis is (today) my favorite 2022-2024 In Color, but I find it difficult to photograph. The color reminds me of the periwinkle growing in front of our family room window. I thought of taking this card outside for its photo session but (a) there were bees the size of my thumb enjoying the periwinkle blossoms, and (b) it started to rain. So I did the best I could downstairs:

I omitted the word “smiles” from this sentiment by sticking a piece of tape over the word before inking up the stamp. To reinforce the “miles,” under the tag I included a panel of Layering Designs Vellum in the map print. One disclaimer: I do not have the 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots, so I used an Orchid Oasis Stampin’ Blends marker on some retired dots.

Tomorrow I will give you a list of products used for this card, as well as a link to a free project sheet. Please come back!

Meanwhile, hop over to Nikki Spencer’s blog, My Sandbox — enjoy!

Happiness Abounds: Happy Birthday

As I mentioned last week, Happiness Abounds was the only bundle on my wish list during the pre-order period for demonstrators. (This is a wonderful perk!) I was so anxious to play with the amazing piercing die in the Blossoming Happiness die set.

Happiness Abounds | Blossoming Happiness | The pierced die in this bundle is amazing; some elements are completely cut out, and others just partially so they can be lifted away from the panel. So cool! Please click to read more! | Stampin' Up! | HeartfeltInkspiration.com | Debra Burgin

Flowing Flowers: Thinking of You

In all the excitement over the Stampin’ Up! 2022-2023 Annual Catalog, I don’t want to overlook the last two months of the January-June Mini Catalog! One of my favorite sets has been Flowing Flowers. The Distinktive™ images, which have shading built into the design, are just gorgeous. Best of all, even using a single ink color gives you stunning results. A single image on the card liner and several on the envelope will ensure the recipient feels special!

The ribbon treatment is also simple: just a single knot affixed over the hole in the tag with a Glue Dot. The die that cut the sentiment is from the retired Beautiful Trees die set. (The coordinating stamp set, Beauty of Friendship, did not retire and is in the new catalog.) The new Sending dies will also work here.

From April’s All-Occasions Stamp-a-Stack, this card uses a favorite color combination of mine. (If you doubt me, check out our upstairs bathroom!)

Nature’s Prints: Best Wishes

Have you ever tried “stamping” with an embossing folder while embossing? It’s such a cool technique, and I was inspired by Julie Davison to create this version with one of the fabulous new In Colors, Starry Sky.

Nature's Prints | Have you tried "stamping" and pressure embossing at the same time? Please click to read more! | Stampin' Up! | HeartfeltInkspiration.com | Debra Burgin

The result of this technique is not perfect — just like the sun printing art you may have created in school. But it’s sort of mesmerizing! I find it’s easier (and maybe a bit less messy) to apply the ink with a hard rubber brayer, available from an art or craft store.

Happiness Abounds: You Are Wonderful

Finally, yesterday was a “day off” to play with new product! Not only did I have fun with this set, Happiness Abounds (actually, the only set/bundle I preordered), but midway through my fun, another (much bigger) box arrived with my first order of the new catalog!

Happiness Abounds | This set has the sweetest little bouquets, in addition to larger flowers and excellent sentiments. A winner! Please click to read more! | Stampin' Up! | HeartfeltInkspiration.com | Debra Burgin

To give the large tag more stability, I thoroughly adhered the DSP scrap to a matching scrap of Basic White before cutting it with the die. I could have also used a piece of Adhesive Sheet to ensure that the two pieces would not separate.

The sweet oval is from All That dies, part of the He’s All That bundle. I did not get the bundle, but I couldn’t pass on this assortment of 10 dies, ones I see myself using often.

I dug deep into my “never get rid of” stash in order to add some clear glitter glue (AKA Stickles) to the flowers. Rare is the time that I don’t smear glitter glue, so I make sure it is the very last thing I add to a finished card and that I can leave it alone for 30 minutes or so.

This card was a warmup to something more involved, and as soon as I had signed our names inside this birthday card, I dashed across the street through the drizzle to give it to our neighbor, who will pass it on to her friend. I barely got wet!
