Nuts about Squirrels: Hey There!

Here’s the second of my two cards from this week’s Stamp Review Crew blog hop featuring Nuts about Squirrels. This one is also a Kraft Note Card. I began by stamping the branch (twice), then created the suggestion of grass and sky using Blending Brushes.

Believe me, I went through some mental torment figuring out how to make a 3D pile of leaves on a flat card! Not just leaves piled in front, but so they appeared on top of the pile, with more of them at the bottom (towards you) than the top. Usually, that kind of dilemma would keep me awake at night, but I was determined to push forward.

Fast forward 45 minutes or so, and (a) one stamped and fussy-cut squirrel and (b) 20 stamped and fussy-cut leaves were ready for the rodent’s dive off the branch. He stuck the landing! The leaves were stamped using a variety of autumnal inks, and I stamped the leaf veins first (in Soft Suede ink) to make it easier to position the leaf shape.
