Textured Floral: Birthday Blooms

The voice in my head that always asks, “How many flower sets do you really need?” was silenced upon seeing this bundle in April when Stampin’ Up! demonstrators were able to view the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog before it was released. The Distinktiveā„¢ photopolymer stamps create beautiful flowers with amazing detail IRL.

Although Textured Floral isn’t an autumn set by any means, I thought by using rich colors like Crushed Curry, Old Olive, and Pebbled Path I could evoke the changing seasons. Here in north central Illinois, we had an overnight low of 46Ā° the other night — which was fun! — but we I will be complaining about the heat big time in the coming days.

This card from last weekend’s All-Occasions Stamp-a-Stack featured a panel of Vellum cardstock embossed with the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder, a sneak peek from the upcoming September-December Mini Catalog. Do not adjust your set (1950s reference), there is nothing wrong with the folder; its embossing is intentionally — and intriguingly — imperfect.

I heard it more than once last weekend; yes, you should emboss on Vellum more often! Just make sure your adhesive is applied in very small amounts in areas where it will not show through.

Distressed Tile 3D is not listed below because it is not available, nor is the sentiment die (from Autumn Leaves).

Since velum is so thin, do you need to do something different when using the big shot ?

Hi, Erika! Some Vellum is thin (Stampin’ Up! used to carry this paper, years ago), but this is Vellum Cardstock — very sturdy and pretty stiff. I don’t typically worry about adhering all the edges, because it doesn’t usually flip up. However, what sometimes happens when embossing is the the Vellum embossing detail will crack. It depends on your own machine, of course. I just overlook this!
