Setting creative boundaries

Sometimes when I’m working (or working out), I listen to podcasts.  Recently, I listened to an episode of “The Accidental Creative” that made such an impression on me, I wrote about it in yesterday’s Heartfelt Inkspiration newsletter.

The idea is that setting limits when you are creating something actually channels your energy.  Instead of being all over the map (or work table) with lots of different supplies, focus on one thing.  Or, eliminate a favorite item that you can’t seem to put down.

The other night, in cutting card kits for this month’s camps, I ended up with several dozen Basic Gray ovals.  There it was, my one thing!

I needed to make a bunch of note cards for stampers who had earned a free stamp set through Burgin Bucks, and I chose Jar of Love as my stamp set.  Even though you probably wouldn’t classify this as a #SimpleStamping card, it did prove to me that starting with one idea and seeing it through (even if it ended up in the recycle bin) was an effective creative strategy!

BTW, I send these note cards without a greeting inside and with an envelope so the recipient can “pass it on” and be a blessing to someone else.  I always have packages of note cards stocked in my studio!
