Holiday Stamp-a-Stack to Go! (October 2020)

This is different! The 2020 version of my annual Jingle Jump will be a kit you’ll assemble on your own! Each kit will contain almost everything you’ll need to make 12 holiday cards (two each of six designs). Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Pre-cut stuff—card bases, die cuts, cardstock for stamping, and panels of Designer Series Paper.
  • Some pre-embossed material.
  • Envelopes.
  • Embellishments.
  • A printed brochure with assembly tips and color images of the completed cards.
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals.

What you’ll supply:

  • Ink (Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler, or Memento Tuxedo Black).
  • Adhesive — I recommend both a dry, tape-type and a wet, glue adhesive).
  • Scissors.
  • The Wrapped in Christmas stamp set (August-December 2020 Mini catalog page 11) or stamps in similar sizes; you will not receive any stamped material in your kit. This set is available separately.

Choose several registration options:

  • As many card kits as you wish for $25 each.
  • Wrapped in Christmas stamp set for $26.
  • Priority mail (if you will not be picking up your materials at my house) for $8.

Registration and payment must be received by Friday, October 9; kits will be available for pickup or mailed the week of October 19.

For complete details and registration information, download the printable pdf form here. Online registration is not available for this event, although you may pay via PayPal — just let me know and we’ll work things out.

Love of Leaves: Birthday Wishes

How many pictures of this card did I take and delete, I wonder: in my little photo booth, on the tray I use for my videos, and — my final attempt — outside on the sidewalk to the front door! I captured the color pretty accurately, but not shown are the bees all over the salvia in the background; they’ve been loving it over the past several weeks!

This is basically the same card I showed you in this post, but I wanted to give it a more masculine, autumnal feeling for my husband’s birthday.

Plus, I think this is my favorite pattern in the Plaid Tidings pack. Or maybe one of them. Honestly, it depends on the project in front of me!

Bokeh Background technique

A few weeks ago I showed you a card with a bokeh background in this post. Here’s how I create this kind of background (I’ll show you a completed card in another post):

Love of Leaves: Hello

If Celebrating Sunflowers and Forever Fern are my most-used new sets from the Stampin’ Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalog, Love of Leaves is the set I reach for most often from the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog.

Love of Leaves | Stitched Leaves | Chris Smith was my inspiration for this card, easily replicated with different patterned paper. Please click to read more! | Stampin' Up! | HeartfeltInkspiration.com | Debra Burgin

Chris Smith was my inspiration for this card (practically the same as hers), because that beautiful Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper was perfect! Not your typical fall colors, of course, but that’s the appeal of this paper for me — in addition to all that foil!

The leaves on the inside of the card are stamped in Mint Macaron — each one stamped once and then again without re-inking.

The embossing on the leaf die-cut is done by lightly sponging a tiny bit of VersaMark ink on the leaf. After you sprinkle on the embossing powder and flick the back of the leaf, rub off (with your finger) the areas that are too heavily powdered. You don’t want the leaf to be too gold.

Sorry to say the white twine is retired. If you’re like me, you have a supply to will continue to use it. In fact, although I typically sell all my retired products, I have learned not to sell the twine because it’s so essential in my stamping.

Later this week I’ll show you how I re-interpreted this card for my husband’s birthday in August. Please come back!

Arrange a Wreath: Best Wishes

August is a lively month in our family, with many birthdays and anniversaries. Only slightly less lively than August is September, so I have been making sure I keep up with my card making.

Last weekend there were two anniversaries; here’s the card my sister-in-law and brother-in-law received.

I love to use two different colors of this detailed wreath die for fullness; I carefully pull some of the pieces from the bottom layer to the front so it looks more natural.

Those flowers are not exactly sunflowers (they could be used as poinsettias), but they are close enough for me. I cut a tiny piece of Soft Suede cardstock to put behind the pierced center of each flower. Don’t think I’ll do that again — a small circle of Brass Foil or an embellishment would be much easier, and the sample on page 127 absolutely is a better option!

I don’t think you’ll run out of inspiration with this bundle, with two styles of wreaths, all types of seasonal motifs (e.g., leaves, hearts, eggs), and lovely sentiments.

Celebrate Sunflowers: A little hello

Here are some other views of the card in yesterday’s video. Remember, if you share the video on Facebook and I draw your name, I’ll send you this note card for you to keep or send to someone else — the inside is blank. (And that smudge you see on the frame here isn’t on your version!) The deadline for sharing is before Saturday, August 29.

The video demonstrates how I color this sunflower image.

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings, a set I’ve had since it first came out — before it was released as a cling set. That means it’s very easy to rub a stamp right off the block when I’m cleaning it, and then it lands … ? As I use them, I’m converting the stamps (32 of them!) to cling versions, using the technique I showed in my video How to convert a clear mount stamp to a cling stamp. You may want to use the Cling Adhesive strips (#152452) that are on page 162 of the Stampin’ Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.
