Gnome for the Holidays: A little Christmas wish

Although I still have some autumn birthdays this month, I am moving ahead with Christmas! I won’t admit to you when I started playing Christmas music, but I have a defense: my October and November Holiday Stamp-a-Stack to Go kits are packed with holiday goodness, and a stamper must be inspired! Thank you all for your interest and support in this “pivot” from my usual Jingle Jumps.

This isn’t one of the SAS cards, but it does use the wonderful ‘Tis the Season 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper that I am using over and over.

Starting with this fun paper made it easy to choose Stampin’ Blends markers.

It may look like a piece of grosgrain ribbon, but that Silver Foil strip across the card was embossed with the Subtle folder. The effect is amazing!

Forever Fern: Wishing you well

This — perhaps my last autumn card — was inspired by Jaimie Babarczy. For the life of me, I can’t find her original card on her site or my Pinterest boards to know how I changed her design. (How does that happen?) I hope I am giving credit to the right stamper!

These are not traditional autumn colors, but that’s what I find so appealing about the Gilded Autumn Suite.

I love this Pinewood Planks background. I prefer to make embossing a separate layer, rather than embossing the card front; if something goes wrong with the embossing, the card front isn’t ruined.

Once again, it’s hard to turn your back, so to speak, on one side of this Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper. It’s all beautiful! But I wanted something shiny; I added some metallic sprigs and the pearls I use so often.

OK, this isn’t really my last card of the season; I have plenty of Thanksgiving cards to make and send. Now the tough part starts: narrowing down my design choices!

Beautiful Autumn: Grateful for You

I thought I had bought all I wanted could afford from the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog. Hah! On my “B” list was Beautiful Autumn, and as the Mini sales period progressed, I became convinced the set needed to be at my house, and quickly. It’s a keeper!

Elizabeth Price inspired me with her card using this pattern from the Plaid Tidings pack. (It’s included in the Designer Series Paper Sale that ends Saturday, October 31. Don’t miss the opportunity to save 15%!)

I had ordered the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper and Brushed Metallic Cardstock from this suite in my initial order (and have used them over and over). The Beautiful Autumn bundle has sweet fall images and beautiful sentiments — it’s easy to overlook. But don’t! The coordinating Autumn Punch Pack is a real bonus, especially since it punches out some of the images in the DSP.

Don’t forget to stamp and punch out one or two more leaves to use inside the card.

Love of Leaves for Bryan

I had my nose to the … Cut & Emboss for several days, preparing for the October Holiday Stamp-a-Stack to Go. One day I vacuumed 9,100 tiny, tiny pieces generated from one of the beautiful frames from the Ornate Layers die set. Beautiful, but messy! My total is not an exaggeration; during a break, I counted the number of holes producing the mess.

Anyway, our grandson Bryan’s birthday was earlier this week, and I took a break from prep to make this card (and a similar one for another grandson in a few days). I had the leaves in my UnFinished Objects bowl from some experiments, so this went together quickly.

These leaves are not “stitched” using the die that creates the veining because I wanted to see more clearly the shading on these beautiful leaf images.

Holiday Stamp-a-Stack to Go! (November 2020)

The October edition of this new kit is history — it was a lot of work, but I’m so happy with the results! Thank you so much for your orders! Here’s the second (and final) edition — Registration closes next week!

Each kit will contain almost everything you’ll need to make 12 holiday cards (two each of six new designs). Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Pre-cut stuff—card bases, die cuts, cardstock for stamping, and panels of Designer Series Paper.
  • Some pre-embossed material.
  • Envelopes.
  • Embellishments.
  • A printed brochure with assembly tips and color images of the completed cards.
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals.

What you’ll supply:

  • Ink (Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler, or Memento Tuxedo Black).
  • Adhesive — I recommend both a dry, tape-type and a wet, glue adhesive).
  • Scissors.
  • The Wrapped in Christmas stamp set (August-December 2020 Mini catalog page 11) or stamps in similar sizes; you will not receive any stamped material in your kit. This set is available separately.

Choose several registration options:

  • As many card kits as you wish for $25 each.
  • Wrapped in Christmas stamp set for $26 (optional).
  • Priority mail (if you will not be picking up your materials at my house) for $8.

Registration and payment must be received by Friday, October 30; kits will be available for pickup or mailed the week of November 9.

For complete details and registration information, download the pdf form here. Online registration is not available for this event, although you may pay via PayPal — just let me know and we’ll work things out.

Wreath Builder: Just a note

I needed a card that was appropriate for later summer or early fall. A card by Amanda Mertz provided perfect inspiration! Terracotta Tile, a close cousin of Calypso Coral, took this in an autumn direction, and I think the result is something like you’d see appliqued on a quilt!

Usually I double up this wreath die to create a fuller wreath, but I love the more graphic nature of this one.

Here you can see the embossing on the wreath and flower die cuts; I embossed the white panel with Tasteful Textile because it’s always out and I haven’t gotten tired of it! You ought to try it on any of the foil papers!

This sentiment, from Posted for You, is another item frequently used. Pretty versatile, whether the occasion is a birthday or just “thinking of you,” and it fits the Classic Label Punch perfectly.
