A Pretty Perennials flip
Today I thought I’d show you the details of the card in yesterday’s video. Things will get busy later today with the release of the 2020–2021 Annual Catalog Retiring Lists. (I’ll make those lists available to you as quickly as I can.)
I took my color cues directly from the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog (take a look at the samples on page 31!), then added a lot of black for contrast.
I’m not sure it gets any more fun and fresh than this card! But of course, the combinations of images and colors are limitless, right?

How to make a flip card
Measurements and tips on how to create a flip card like the one in yesterday’s blog post. Simple! If video player does not display below, please copy and paste video URL into your browser address bar.
A butterfly flip card
Here’s a layout — or you might consider it a fancy fold — that needs to be in your stampin’ toolkit! When I saw LeeAnn Greff’s card, I knew I wanted to make it in camp this month. I’m glad we made this before the Stampin’ Up! supply of this paper, Butterfly Bijou, was completely depleted. The good news is that the stamp and dies will be available in the next annual catalog; I am hoping for similarly beautiful designs for this remarkable bundle!
I think you can tell that the black flap flips up to reveal a narrow sentiment panel. So clever!
Here is the recipe, but if you prefer to see rather than read how to make this card, I’ll have a video for you tomorrow.
- 4¼” x 5½” Mint Macaron card base
- 2 each 1/2” x 5½” Butterfly Bijou 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper (no longer available)
- 3” x 11” Basic Black cardstock, scored at 5½”
- 2¾” x 5¼” Basic White card liner and scrap for sentiment

Butterfly Brilliance: A study in brown
While I was creating note cards for yesterday’s Butterfly Brilliance Tips video, I used the same cut-down background for this larger card:
I forgot to emboss the stamped panel, but the assembly is pretty much the same as the note card here.
I think this is suitable for a guy. What’s your opinion?

Butterfly Brilliance: A little note
So much for outdoor photography of my stamping projects! Yesterday, winter returned for (hopefully) one last blast. Meanwhile, I happily worked away as plans for the day changed and then changed again.
Although this note card is a tad more complicated than yesterday’s Butterfly Brilliance card, I wanted to show a monochromatic version — this time, using the stamp as a background.
To ramp up the design, I embossed the main panel and added a little sentiment tag. The brown embellishment is a resin dot that I colored with the Dark Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends marker. I love these dots because they’re so flat, but even more so because I can easily color them to match my project — this one was originally pink!
I’ve created a video to show how I created this card/envelope and included tips on using the Stamparatus with Butterfly Brilliance. It will be available in tomorrow’s blog post!

Butterfly Brilliance: It doesn’t have to be complicated
I spent the last 10 days loving on the Butterfly Brilliance collection of products. We made three cards using these products at March stamp camps, but this was not one of them:
If you spend any amount of time following other stampers, as I do, it’s very easy to become overwhelmed by possibilities: stamps, colors, techniques, embellishments. I start questioning my ability to put together a card on my own and can become frozen with indecision!
But because I needed to replenish my supply of sympathy cards, I took just 45 minutes on a beautiful spring Saturday to get back to my stampin’ style: classic. In that time I had made several of these cards featuring one color, one image, and one embossing folder. Done. Then I went outside to the patio and took my pictures against the back of the house!
If you didn’t view my video on this sneak peek, you’ll want to know these things about this collection:
- Butterfly Brilliance is a single background stamp in red rubber (cling) with six beautiful butterflies. This stamp will be available in the next Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, effective May 4.
- The Brilliant Wings die set has 12 dies, some outline (cutout) dies and some detailed dies. One of the dies cuts out all of the Butterfly Brilliance images at one time. This set of dies will be available in the next Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, effective May 4.
- Butterfly Bijou 6″ x 6″ Designer Series paper is a pack of 48 sheets (8 each of 6 double-sided, beautiful designs). It is only available while supplies last and will not be available in the next annual catalog.
- Natural Touch Specialty Paper is a pack of two 12″ x 12″ textured sheets with a pale woodgrain. It is only available while supplies last and will not be available in the next annual catalog.
- You can see all products in this collection in my Stampin’ online storefront.
