Party Puffins: HB

I love flowers, but it’s good to have a set that I can use for kids and maybe even guys. Party Puffins is that set!

The key to getting a good, deep black, solid image is using the Stamparatus. Here’s what I say: the paper doesn’t move and the stamp doesn’t move, and that means you can stamp and re-stamp until you’re happy with the image. See what I mean?

I only have a few of these retired Gold Glimmer Enamel Dots left in my stash. Sad about that, but I am hoping for something similar in the upcoming Stampin’ Up! July-December 2021 Mini Catalog.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned that the start of that mini has been delayed by a month to make sure products will be available when the mini goes live. So, August 3 is the start of the July-December Mini and the July-August Sale-A-Bration brochure (which will run for two months).

Meanwhile, I’ll enjoy a demonstrator perk: seeing the online version of these publications tomorrow!

Sweet Ice Cream: Mint chocolate chip

Of all the cards from April’s Sweet Ice Cream to-go kit, this is the only one not using the wonderful Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper. I’m sorry, but the DSP is all gone, so this card is for you if you were not lucky enough to score some!

I love mint and I love chocolate, so this cone would be my perfect summer treat! Doesn’t the embossed background look like fresh-scooped ice cream? Yum and yum.

The ice cream scoop here is actually created with stamped-off Old Olive, to give it a deeper mint feeling.

Sweet Ice Cream: Blueberry and grape pops

I really try to keep track of my sources of inspiration, but all too frequently I am unable to credit the original stamper. I apologize for this!

This is another card from April’s Sweet Ice Cream to-go kit. It takes advantage of the fabulous Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper. It’s retiring at the end of June, but the last time I checked, it’s still in stock — get it!

Sweet Ice Cream | Blueberry and grape ice pops -- I'm in! Of course, you can stamp these confections in a variety of colors! Please click to read more! | Stampin' Up! | HeartfeltInkspiration.com | Debra Burgin

If blueberry and grape pops don’t make your mouth water, stamp this image in the colors you see at the bottom of the inside of this card. The two-step stamping is so easy with this photopolymer set!

There’s a nice and easy feature on this card: cut 1″ off the bottom of the front, then flat adhere 1½” of patterned paper to the bottom of the inside. A 1/2″ piece of DSP is adhered to the bottom of the (shortened) front.

I love the Happy Birthday image in this set and use it in many cards. Sometimes a bold sentiment is just what’s needed.

Dragonfly Garden: Good things

Call me happy that Dragonfly Garden is in the new Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog! It is a beautiful set with elements suitable for a variety of occasions and recipients. Also making me happy is that the stamp set and coordinating Dragonflies Punch are offered as a bundle with 10% savings, as they were in the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog.

Now, just a few days ago I gave you a heads-up about the Sweet Ice Cream bundle retiring (but not the set or the dies). I can’t explain (because I don’t know) why Stampin’ Up! retains some bundles and retires others. What I do know is that you need to keep alert!

The patterned paper here is retired, but you can find other patterns in Calypso Coral that will suit this design.

The Gold Glitter Enamel Dots are also retired; anything with just a little glimmer will complement the Wink of Stella on the dragonfly’s wings.

This card, from my April stamp camps, was inspired by Annette Elliott.

Floral Squares: Hello there

Last week I was frantically trying to get ahead of my birthday cards, and a wonderful card by Amanda Mertz was my kick-off inspiration. It gave me the opportunity to play again with the Floral Squares dies — this time with Blending Brushes and one of the Decorative Masks.

Sweet Strawberry | Basic Patterns Decorative Masks | Blending Brushes | Floral Squares | Inspiration from Amanda Mertz. Please click to read more! | Stampin' Up! | HeartfeltInkspiration.com | Debra Burgin

The leaves in the die cut were colored with a Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends marker, giving them a bit more pop. And if my ombré isn’t quite right, well, I tried. You get the idea. It’s fun to create backgrounds with the masks and Blending Brushes. Why am I not doing this every day???

The black centers of the flowers are simply Playing with Patterns Resin Dots colored with the Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blends marker. I love the resin dots because they are so flat and can be custom colored, even with a Sharpie if you’re not concerned about matching colors.

Did you realize that Stampin’ Up! heat embossing powders are now packaged in assortments? The Basics assortment (#155554) consists of black, clear, and white powder; the Metallics assortment (#155555) includes copper, gold, and silver.

Sweet Ice Cream: Triple scoop

It’s a pretty mild (and unofficial) start to summer so far, which is OK by me. There’s time enough for hot and humid weather. And there’s always time for ice cream in this household, no matter the weather. I generally only buy variations on vanilla (homemade, bean, French) for the man who eats it, but for the Sweet Ice Cream to-go kit of April, we had all kinds of flavors!

This card, designed by my stampin’ partner Jennifer Taylor, features a triple scoop of deliciousness!

It was so fun to design these kit cards! I love the colors in the retiring (but still available) Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper, and all the designs are so usable!

Each one of the ice cream scoops was second-generated stamped (“stamped off”), then the sprinkles were stamped over the scoops.

I’ll be showing you the other designs in the Sweet Ice Cream kit in the coming days. You probably have seen that this stamp set and coordinating punch are in the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, but not as a bundle (with 10% savings). The Sweet Ice Cream Bundle (#156244) is only available while supplies last before the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog retires at the end of June.

Last Chance Products — sale starts tomorrow!

In my newsletter of a few weeks ago, I provided a list of items retiring from the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog.  Last week Stampin’ Up! released a revised list with discounted prices on many of those items.  Find my list in page number order here; you can take advantage of these savings beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, June 1.

Be careful!  It may be less expensive to buy stamps and dies separately instead of buying the bundle:  the Kangaroo & Company bundle is priced at $36.75, but if you buy the stamp set and the dies (at 50% off!), you will pay only $28.50!

Don’t miss these bargains!  As always, products are available only while they last.

Floral Squares: Thinking of you

It took over a month before I ordered the Floral Squares dies, but they were on my wish list from the start! I love any product that helps me create an impactful card — simply! This was my first design, a camp card in May. I don’t remember who inspired this card.

Floral Squares | Inspired Thoughts | This set of four square dies, plus detailed pieces, helps create a card with great impact -- simply! Please click to read more! | Stampin' Up! | HeartfeltInkspiration.com | Debra Burgin

Can’t go wrong with black and white with a pop of color, right? This reminds me of a quilt square, or a pillow top, or something made with felt.

Not to worry: that little flower center is actually the black background showing through the holes in both pieces!

When I started cutting for my camps, I accidentally used the new Polished Pink instead of what I have in this sample, Magenta Madness. Both pinks work, and many other combinations as well!

The ends of the sentiment banner were created with the retired Classic Label punch. Simply cut it in half and adhere one half behind each end of the banner, using your Grid Paper to keep them even and straight. Try this with other punch/dies combinations!

Proud to own a painting shirt

I’m not saying I’ve been forbidden to paint walls, fences, etc., during my marriage, but I can still remember how appalled my husband was when he saw me in action. He is so careful, he barely needs to use painter’s tape or put down a drop cloth. I only say the word “paint” and I have it on my body and clothing and other places it doesn’t belong.

So I thought it was about time to ask him to teach me how. And I had just the project.

Last week I finally got something that’s been on my wish list forever: a garden workbench, or potting table. (Peter told me I didn’t need one, I could just use a stool with a tray on it. Exactly how I’ve been managing for years, but not efficiently or happily.) I found a 6-foot workbench kit, and we asked Peter’s parents to meet us at the store to haul it (and a new grill) back to our house in their van. I must have said “We have a construction project for the weekend,” but I seriously didn’t mean to imply that they had to help with it. Even so, it’s good to have generous family members, and DH and his son assembled the workbench while our DIL and I assembled the grill. Peter tightened screws, held pieces in place while we persuaded them to fit, and generally offered help as needed (including with the lunch dishes, thank you!).

After they left, and after a brief nap, we went to the paint store. I had already picked out Dutch Boy’s Cattails, but we had it mixed at Sherwin Williams. The bench is outside behind our garage, under an overhang that will keep it mostly protected from the weather.

If you’re wondering why I’m telling you all of this, it’s because Cattails is nearly the same as the new Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 In Color Soft Succulent, just darker. I had not planned that. Here’s what the bench looks like, five days later:

It’s not really this blue IRL, it is a blue-green.

This makes me so happy. And now, in my gardening shirt with paint on it, I’m ready to put this bench to good use!
