Winter Woods: ‘Tis the Season

Dark gray plus frosty white and red — this is one of my go-to color combinations for Christmas or winter cards. Usually the red is a bird, but this year there isn’t a bird to be found (so far) on any holiday card. Instead, I used the just beautiful image of five bare trees from Winter Woods as the snowy focal point. The magic of heat embossing never gets old!

The red lifts the spirits, if you’re thinking the gray is rather somber, and the dotted tulle ribbon is playful and sweet.

The darling little tag is not actually tied on, it’s just slipped under the ribbon knot. I think the detail on this tag — scalloped and stitched instead of plain — really sets a project apart from the rest of the crowd. When something’s missing from a card, try what I call “dressmaker details” to add interest.
