After uncomfortable heat and humidity over the long weekend, we seem to have turned a corner. Yesterday we visited our county fair and had a wonderful time, as expected. We were there early and got to watch the livestock judging — in fact judging of all kinds of things. Eleven years ago, the first (and last) time I entered any of my work, I won Best of Class in the Professional division for greeting cards. That might sound pretty specific (like maybe I didn’t have any competition!), but then there were many, many entrants. This year, there were 11 categories in the Professional division, but I didn’t get to see any of the rubber stamping or scrapbooking projects.
Anyway, there were many natural autumn decorations around the grounds, and some landscaping firms have wonderful displays. So, it’s time!
After experimenting with various card bases, I found Early Espresso most beautifully showed off these leaves in traditional colors. For an unexpected bit of playfulness, I used a panel of dots from Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper.
I have a deep fondness for the DeKalb County Fair (we know it as the Sandwich Fair) because it was the occasion of our second date, 38 years ago. It doesn’t seem like life should be more complicated now, but it is, so I’m happy we can still go!
