11th Annual Great Coin Jar Contest

Here we are, nearly to the end of the Stampin’ Up! 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, and that means it’s time for the Annual Great Coin Jar Contest! If you’ve participated in previous years, you know that I never spend my change; I put all coins in a vintage blue canning jar. It’s a quart-sized jar, and many years it’s around 2/3 full, yielding $70-$80. A gallery of prior contest jars:

Of course, just because the jar is full (or the year’s change requires more than one jar, as in 2015!) doesn’t mean the total is that much greater than a half-full jar. It depends on the denominations — but you knew that!

All this to say, there’s no science to this: the Annual Great Coin Jar Contest is your best guess. And here’s a picture of this year’s jar, a pathetic collection of metal to be sure!

Here’s how the contest works, as best as I can remember:

  1. Make your best guess (only one!) and send it to me via text message, email, Facebook comment, or blog post comment.
  2. Your guess must be posted today, May 31, 2019, by the end of my work day — 10:00 p.m. Central.
  3. The person who guesses closest to the actual amount in the jar, as determined by my bank later this morning, will receive a prize.
  4. You must be a U.S. resident to win, and no purchase is necessary.
  5. The prize this year is a pack of Pearlized Doilies and your choice of 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper in the “all-occasion designs,” pictured at the top of page 168 in the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. You will choose the color family you wish. This prize is valued at $16.00!
  6. I’ll mail you the prize or hand it to you when I see you at camp or elsewhere.

Enjoy the contest — and, hopefully, the prize!
