When DH asks me for a card, my first instinct is not to go through my card boxes — unless I am really crunched for time. Instead, if I am working with a new set of products, I think, “How can I take this in a different direction?”

So, with a workspace full of Eden’s Garden items, I turned my back on the Ever Eden 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper and re-used a Jingle Jump card layout in a dramatically different colorway.

When I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted to do, I made two cards. The thank-you card my husband needed used “much gratitude” from Heartfelt Wishes (may it live forever!), but was otherwise identical to this one.

My secrets for a simple card:

Use one color (here, complementary blues).
Combine a floral print with a geometric or linear one.
Re-use a favorite layout.

Although I really, really love the Ever Eden paper, I am a stamper at heart. What images do you have that could work here?
