Salted background for you

Yes, this note card is for you — if you share on Facebook this week’s Salted Background Technique video and I draw your name. It will be in the mail to you for you to keep or send to someone else (the inside is blank). The deadline for sharing is before Saturday, July 11, so don’t delay!

I’ve been having fun experimenting with paper, water, ink, and salt to create interesting, organic pieces. Have you tried a Salted Background yet?

I’m sorry I didn’t give you a better closeup of this card in the video. Here you can see the amazing effect of coarse salt on water and ink. So cool! As I said, while the “master board” (or full piece of card stock) you’ve created may be something less than beautiful, when you cut it down and put it on a card, it is transformed. Context is a word I use a lot!

If you’re wondering about the black mat around the postage stamp punchie, it measures 1½” x 2⅛”.
