Painted Poppies: Birthday Cheer

This was one of the really popular designs at the All-Occasions Stamp-a-Stack earlier this month — there were no card packs left at the end of the weekend! You may have been seeing variations of this card for some time, as it’s based on a card Stampin’ Up! demonstrators made at last November’s OnStage gathering.

Using the big and small “spatter” stamps to color the flowers and stems is not everybody’s cup of tea. This whole Peaceful Poppies Suite is designed around watercolored images, as you can see from the samples on page 24 of the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog, and the results are informal and fun. The Flirty Flamingo spatters over the flower heads were stamped off once.

I’m just now starting to pull away from the red/pink/coral tones that are used with this stamp set — and doing some hand coloring, as well, for a more traditional look. So many possibilities!

We had a mild, sunny weekend, which was a delight (lunch on the back porch! along hike in the woods!), but I am looking for a return to more wintry weather which will give me some concentrated creative time downstairs to work on next month’s camp projects.
