Soft Seedlings: Hello

We are on the verge of autumn, although we have had some pretty warm days, and not very many trees are starting their color change. I know there are people who are wild to get into the pumpkin spice thing, but I am not ready to give up on summer quite yet. Still, I’ll give the season change a little nudge with this simple card.

This beautiful set (no bundle) has a lovely maple leaf and “spinners,” as we call the seed pods. This is a Distinktive set and, as you know, that means the shading for the images is built into the stamps.

After stamping the images with Crumb Cake ink, I added color with Watercolor Pencils — Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Pumpkin Pie. To blend the colors, I swiped Wink of Stella over the leaf and spinners. It’s kind of amazing to see the transformation! I stamped the spinner-only image inside a few times, leaving room to handwrite a greeting.

Finally, a tree update from our front yard. Yesterday we were due to have work done on the birch to strengthen it and encourage new growth, but the team leader determined that the tree’s health had declined since he consulted with us a few weeks ago and it cannot be saved. So now we will make a decision about a replacement tree.

Brilliant technique! Your card looks beautiful, though I’m not ready for Fall.
