A couple of months ago, when I was fooling around with random stamping, I wanted to see if I could make a monochromatic card with Celebrate Sunflowers. I was successful using Bumblebee and Crushed Curry, but I wanted to use neutrals to move flowers from “girly” to sophisticated and even masculine.

Although the inside of the card looks darker, the sunflower is stamped in the same ink as the front — Soft Suede. Naturally, so is the envelope flap! (Need some tips on stamping a flap? Check out my video in this post.)

Not sure if you can tell that I embossed the stamped panel. It adds a subtle and surprising contrast to the sentiment panel — same color, different texture. I use this sentiment a lot. I love that it is long and can span the card. Although there are plenty of long rectangles in the Stitched Rectangles set, I used one from Ornate Layers. For me, that die alone has been worth the price of the set!
This card is ready for my brother-in-law’s birthday in early August!
