Lovely Lily Pad: Happy Birthday

I’m a little late, but as promised in this post, here’s the January camp card using Lovely Lily Pad:

This card — full of FREE Sale-A-Bration items! — uses an old, old technique called emboss resist. The lily image was stamped in VersaMark ink, heat embossed in white powder, then colored with ink using Sponge Daubers. The magic occurs when you wipe (really, scrub) the ink off the embossed areas with a tissue or cotton ball. Omit this step and (a) I promise you’ll get ink on your fingers because it won’t dry on the embossing, and (b) the white embossing won’t “pop”!

That playful border is produced with what I call the “guitar pick” die. If you position it tip-side up, as shown in the catalog, it mimics the shape of the lily petals. I love die sets that include more than just outline dies. This is so versatile!

Along with the stamp set and dies, this set includes coordinating metallic twine and sequins — all FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration! Oh, and I can’t forget the wonderful SAB sentiment set, Sending You Thoughts, which includes messages for inside the card as well. (You can see the entire SAB brochure here.)
