I’m guessing you know that you can color ribbon by (a) applying ink with a dauber, sponge, or directly from the ink pad; or (b) with a Stampin’ Blends marker. But at OnStage in November, one of the stamping demonstrators showed this technique that wowed me (and others around our table, too):
1. Begin by affixing the ends of a length of ribbon (this is the new Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon) to your Grid Paper with sticky notes or washi tape. Choose your ink color and some type of patterned stamp — it makes no difference what the image is, but I used one here that would give me a mottled, rather than solid, look.
2. Stamp over the ribbon. It should dry almost instantly.
3. The ink bleeds through the ribbon, so both sides show the color. This picture shows the reverse side.
4. Tie a bow, affix to your project, and trim ends!
I’ll show a card tomorrow that uses this technique with a more solid image.
