On Friday we celebrated — or rather observed — our 33rd anniversary. We never celebrate much, but with the 3rd grader with us all day, it was pretty much a day about him anyway.
As I was preparing for camp this month, I made this card for the occasion:
The product used for the wreath is Pigment Sprinkles — I wrote about this product in this Messy Monday post. This was version #2 of my experimenting (I’ll show you the camp version later this week). I think the results are pretty cool:
My tips for this wreath are:
- Watercolor Paper is not necessary; I used Thick Very Vanilla for the base of this, spritzing until the surface was uniformly moist.
- Use less rather than more Pigment Sprinkles; more will make a muddy mess.
- Spritz with water until the pigment “melts”; make sure there are no dry spots.
- Use the Heat Tool to make sure the card stock is bone dry. If it’s pliable, it means that it’s still damp inside.
- Did your panel turn out muddy and dark? Before die cutting, turn it over — it could be just what you want!
- A square of waxed paper between the card stock and die will ensure that the wreath pops out with very little poking necessary.
I am so glad I expanded my creative boundaries by using this product!
