Delicate Edges: Happy Birthday

When dies are not part of a bundle (currently or in prior catalogs), it’s easy to overlook them. Today’s card features two of those “orphan” die sets: Delicate Edges (a set of four borders, new in the 2022-2023 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog) and Stitched Greenery (one “piercing” background die). These have different uses, as you can see on this note card:

The Stitched Greenery die is huge — large enough to use on the first layer (4″ x 5ΒΌ”) of a standard card — and multi-directional. When you run a card stock panel through the Cut & Emboss Machine, you might wonder how you’ll remove the paper — all those piercings hold on pretty tightly! But there are holes on the back of the die where you’ll use a toothpick or some other poking tool to persuade the die to release the paper. Once one corner is free, you can simply peel the paper off the die.

As for this leaf border, I simply covered a strip of Very Vanilla (backed with an Adhesive Sheet) with dots of ink, using Sponge Daubers. It doesn’t look like it will amount to much at that point, but I remind myself (and others) that it’s all about context. After the strip is die-cut with the leaf border, it is transformed; every time you do this, it will be different!

I kept the sentiment simple so attention stays on the background and the border.
