When I was designing for Inkspiration Saturday earlier this month, I held off on the last card as long as I could, waiting to see if the items from the second release were as wonderful as they looked on the Stampin’ Up! site.
Of course you know I was not disappointed, especially with the amazing Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper. You probably know that when you see “specialty” it typically means the cardstock is embossed or, in this case, has foil accents. Springtime Foils has foil in gold, silver and rose gold, which was quite stunning.
We colored the glossy surface with Stampin’ Blends. The key to coloring success is to complete one leaf or flower at a time. For example, do not color all the leaves in one color, then go back and add another color to all the leaves, etc. The colors are very easy to blend on this paper when they are still wet — you’ll actually see the colors being pushed around. Remember: One leaf or flower at a time. In fact, this is good advice whenever using the Blends.
I used Ivory as the base of these flowers to give a vintage feel. Although I experimented with various ribbons, they were all too fussy. Finally, just a simple pierced strip was enough, perfectly complementing the DSP.
