We’ve been talking about it for months, it seems, and now it’s over: Peter’s 7th birthday. He specifically asked for a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and his name written in blue icing on top. Of course, I obliged.
I was pretty pleased with my efforts, even though my medium is paper, not cake batter. You can find the recipe for Favorite Chocolate Cake here. It was really, really good.
I’ve always wanted to make one of these cake banners; the only thing I’d change is to use taller (longer) skewers next time. Even though I used a Mini Treat Bag Thinlits die, I used only 1″ strips of paper so that I could fit 7 flags across. Naturally we took the banner down before lighting the candles!
Wondering about that patterned paper? It’s a sneak peek from 2018 Sale-A-Bration! It’s called Bubbles & Fizz and coordinates with the Bubble Over bundle from the 2018 Occasions Catalog. You can barely see the reverse side of this paper, which is white hearts on a Calypso Coral background. Love this fun paper, especially since it’s FREE!
Speaking of the OC, tonight I’ll be submitting my mailing list for catalogs being sent directly from Stampin’ Up! That means if you are not already receiving catalogs from me or another demonstrator, I’d love to put you on the list. Please let me know — immediately if not sooner!
Here’s a closer look at the birthday card, which uses Glimmer Paper from 2017 Sale-A-Bration:
