Wishing you a happy golden birthday

To be honest, I had never heard of the concept of a golden birthday until I got married and had (adult) stepchildren.  Regrettably, I had been denied the opportunity for some fab 14K gifts several years earlier because this idea was intentionally and cruelly withheld from me.  I have no other explanation for why I didn’t know.

Unless it’s a regional thing, like “At least you’re still pretty,” ha ha.

In the course of cleaning up the studio for camp last week, I decided I’d better finish this card I had started for January’s Stamp Review Crew: SAB Free-for-All blog hop.

The sentiment, if you can’t tell, is embossed in gold, so this would be appropriate for a golden birthday, a 50th birthday, or simply a birthday for someone special.  The Stampin’ Up! gold embossing powder is so pretty — not at all flashy — and it plays well with the Sale-A-Bration ribbon, the tiny strip of Gold Glimmer Paper, and dots of Gold Glitz Dazzling Details on the flowers.

The sentiment was cut with Lots of Labels dies, but you won’t find this particular size in the set.  I cut it shorter by lining it up where I wanted at the bottom and cutting, then positioning the die so it cut the top where I wanted (you can feel when it’s lined up on the sides).  Make sense?
