I’ve showed you this card before, but never fully described it. It’s another card from Inkspiration Saturday in October, and one of my favorites.
In the old days, there was a huge craft sale in the suburbs of Chicago the first full weekend in December, benefiting Lambs Farm, an organization for people with developmental disabilities. And for maybe 25 years, I would attend with one or more of my sisters, perhaps including our mother and a friend.
I am telling you, this was a big event — we just called it “The Show,” and unless you weren’t part of the inner circle, you knew what we were talking about. For hours we would walk our legs down to stumps, then in the early evening we’d stop by the Lambs Farm booth for some sweet goodies (that may or may not make it all the way home) and go out for pizza and an extended discussion about the event and our haul.
It was the perfect place to buy Christmas gifts for the family — including each other, which required some stealth and cunning.
Our mother always had a least one Christmas gift from The Show: a pack of note cards, hand-dyed silk scarf, small painting, or embroidered sweatshirt with a bird on it. I think she would have liked this card.
