Stamp Review Crew: Jar of Love

Jar of LoveWelcome to this edition of the Stamp Review Crew twice-monthly blog hop!  Our focus this time is the Jar of Love set that made its debut in the latest Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  If you like old jars or preserve fruit and vegetables or make jam, this is your set!  I have quite a few vintage blue jars that are used around the house, but last week I bought two clear jars that appealed to me just because of the pretty patterns in the glass.  Already filled.  It’s all about the containers.

Wow — there are 21 blogs on this hop (see the list by clicking the banner, above or here)!  Do we love this set, or what?  So perhaps you came here from Stress-Free Stamping with Shana.  I love her stampin’ style!

I’ve already used this set for several different cards, so I challenged myself to do something different.  One of my stamper buddies had never heard the phrase, “Comparison is the thief of joy” (a quote attributed to Theodore Roosevelt and others).  Comparison is a tendency I fight, usually unsuccessfully, because I spend a lot of time looking at other stampers’ work and it can feed my insecurities.  I need a daily reminder of the damage this can do, so I framed this quote in a wreath of images from Jar of Love.  I faked the black frame for this photo, because there’s no point in attempting to photograph something under glass, but IRL I have this 8″ square piece in a shadow-type frame.  It’s pretty, but not perfect.  But that’s OK, right?

Debra Burgin Comparison Wreath

I was so pleased with the way this turned out that I’ve decided to offer a holiday gift class for a wreathed monogram.  Details in October!

Meanwhile, you’re moving on Stamps & Scraps with Yapha to find out what she’s created to amaze and delight you!

I understand the quote! Sadly to say! Ito have insecurities. I always worry that someone else won’t like what I made or it’s never good enough! That’s my biggest problem, I just feel like I’m never good enough! Like you said , “We must fight it everyday!”. Beautiful quote, no matter whose it is! You gave us another perspective of the possibly with this stamp set! Thank you for sharing! I’m trying not to copy, but I am going to use some of your idea. So again, Thank YOU! for sharing!

This is beautiful Deb! And what a clever blogging tip to fake the frame! It’s so disheartening to share a lovely project when you just can’t get a good photo because of the reflection. I shall remember this forever! Kelly x PS, I can’t see the imperfection….

  15. Mickey Roberts says:
