Stamp Review Crew: Thoughtful Branches

Thoughtful Branches BannerWhat a great idea the Stamp Review Crew had to add this extra hop for Thoughtful Branches!  This may make me sound weird, but my heart was so lifted when Stampin’ Up! showed us this set — and allowed demonstrators to order it a few weeks ago.  The stamps are beautiful and the coordinating Beautiful Branches Thinlits are amazing.  (Click here to see the pdf brochure showing stamps and dies.)  You’ll be able to order this bundle, or the items individually, beginning August 2, while supplies last.

So here you are, possibly via My Papercraft Journey, the blog of Kelly Kent.  She inspires me so much!  Remember, clicking the hop banner above will bring you to a complete list of bloggers for this hop.

When I was designing my projects, I had two guidelines:  (1) plan ahead for August’s stamp camps and (2) forget everything I’ve already seen using this set!  It’s not easy to forget a good idea, but I hope I didn’t see this card somewhere.  Since we do not have any copper foil paper, I created my own mat for the stamped circle by daubing VersaMark on a scrap, embossing it, and cutting it with a Layering Circles die.  If you’re wondering why I didn’t cut the circle first, I did the first time I made the card, but quickly (and painfully) realized there was nothing to hold while using the heat tool!  “Leaves” in Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, and Crushed Curry give this card its autumn feel.

Debra Burgin Autumn Trees for YouMy second card is not practical for camp, but it was fun to marker those apples and cut each one out!  Since our grandson Peter starts school this fall, I am hoping to be able to do some crafting of teacher appreciation cards and gifts.  I know it can get out of control, but I never got to do that and (right now) stamping school projects sounds fun!  So I see this next card going to his teacher, perhaps with an Amazon gift card in it.  I’ll see what our DIL thinks.

Debra Burgin Apples for YouThe next blog on this hop is Linda Callahan’s Stampin’ Seasons.  I hope you enjoy her work as much as I do!

Love your cards Deb. Both so different and fabulous inspiration. I know what you mean about forgetting what you’ve already seen. This bundle is dynamite and there’s already so many lovely cards out there. Yours add wonderfully to the mix! Kelly x

  3. Yapha says:

Great cards, Debra! That first one is gorgeous. I was looking for some copper paper too — you came up with a great solution that I will use next time. Thanks for the (painful) embossing tip as well!

  4. Bronwyn says:

I so love the different ideas that you have come up with for your cards – I must crack open my copper embossing powder. It’s a shame that all the ‘teacher appreciation’ that you guys celebrate isn’t practiced as much here in Australia. Must do something about that 🙂

  5. Mike says:

Debra, that image literally pops right off the page. And the apples are so bright (and juicy!) Perfect!

  6. Heidi Baks says:

Cute projects, Deb! What is the die-cut strip on your apple card. I don’t recognize it.

  7. Love your cards Deb. The first one I love how you copper embossed around the edges. Your second card love, love and it’s so cute!!
