Stamp Review Crew: Butterfly Basics

SRC-Butterfly-Basics-bannerHooray for Butterfly Basics making it into the next Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog — with its coordinating Framelits!  This Stamp Review Crew blog hop is the perfect opportunity to fill your inspiration tank to last for months!  Betty over at Kitty Stamp always provides a creative twist on her projects, doesn’t she?

My challenge with this set is to create cards that don’t have the detailed die-cut butterflies on them!  So my first card, made for my All-Occasions Stamp-a-Stack in March, is a frequently used layout for me and only uses the small stamped butterfly.  Each one is stapled to a square stamped with the honeycomb image, which looks a bit like screening.  I can’t decide if that makes it look like the butterflies are specimens in some lab — I hope not!

Debra Burgin 2015SP Butterfly TrioOur grandson Wyatt (second youngest grandchild) is graduating from high school in a few weeks; this is his card.  It’s hard to tell from the photo, but the card base (Very Vanilla) is stamped with the fern and there are popped Naturals Ivory panels on either side embossed with the retiring Argyle embossing folder.  I hope it’s manly enough!

Debra Burgin So proud of youThanks for visiting!  Enjoy the next stop on the hop, Bronwyn’s addINKtive designs!

Debra, these are both wonderful cards! I love how you used the staples to attach the butterflies on the first one. The ferns are great on the second and I think your grandson will love it!

  2. Tanya Boser says:

Both of these cards are wonderful, but my favorite is the second card. LOVE the masculine feel, the texture, and the great foliage! I think you have inspired the Father’s Day card for my card class 🙂

  3. I love that you’ve chosen to use the stamp set this way, and you’ve done a beautiful job!!

  4. Cindy Beach says:

Clean and graphics is a great style and you’ve accomplished it beautifully with this set. Both cards are beautifully done!

Both cards are dynamite, Debra! I hate to see the postage stamp punch retire, but I will sure get some use out of it casing your first card. Nicely done!

Oh wow! I love what you created and both cards are a nice, fresh take on Butterfly Basics. Love the colors you chose – I am really going to miss Naturals Ivory card stock.

  7. Great cards Debra! Two very different cards using the same stamp set and both look equally fantastic. Love the repeated use of the small butterfly in the first card. Very pretty! And love how you’ve used the butterfly stamp set to give the second card a more masculine feel.

  8. Betty Traciak says:

Both are great! Super for a class setting. Nice use of the fern to make a masculine card!
