Good morning, stampers! Is your Stampin’ Up! 2014-2015 Annual Catalog well-worn yet? Has your wish list been growing? Are you in love? My stampin’ buddies at Stampin’ Addicts can say “yes” to at least the last question — and so we’re bringing you this weekend blog hop. Each of us will be featuring a favorite brand-new set. Perhaps you arrived here from Tinkerin In Ink with Tanya and delighted in her projects using Kinda Eclectic. (If you’re starting here, you’ll find links to the previous and next blogs on the hop, or just click on the banner above to get to the complete list.)
I chose An Open Heart (page 119). It was the set I absolutely had to have immediately! Not only was I anxious to color that bird, but I love the sprig of … well, I don’t know what that sprig is, as you’ll soon see.
My first card is nearly monochromatic, a masculine card for an upcoming retirement party. No fuss here, just Early Espresso ink, shades of ivory, and a sliver of the fabulous Mossy Meadow.
I loved using that sprig as an all-over background so much that I used it again on this card. I used VersaMark, so it’s pretty subtle. Now I know this is a wren and not a bluebird, but it is art, right? I wanted the feeling of china painting. I’ve been stamping CAS (clean and simple) cards so much recently that I think I need to kick this up a bit. Do I hear my doilies calling?
Finally, I’m turning my back on our sultry weather here and thinking Christmas! Did you know this sentiment set (More Merry Messages) is still available? It is (along with several other seasonal products), but only until the end of August, when the Holiday Catalog will debut. Thought you should know!
Now off you go to Stampin’ with Paula to enjoy her projects using Sweet Stuff. Have a wonderful weekend — don’t forget to stamp!
