Magnetic platformWhen I first heard the concept of the Stampin’ Up! Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot, I was thrilled.  My first experiences with the thin dies (Framelits and Edgelits) were not perfect.  Learning to secure the dies with sticky notes helped so much, and yet not all of my stampers achieved consistent success with the dies staying where they were put.

However, when saw the price of this item — gulp.  I said, “I can buy a lot of sticky notes for that price!”  Of course, being able to get this as a half-price item (or free!) as a hostess made the acquisition easier.  But I can tell you that even after only a few practice cuts, I am sold on this product, even at full price!

How strong is this magnet?  Stampin’ Up! cautions that people with pacemakers should not use the Magnetic Platform.

Here’s something I didn’t know:  Stampin’ Up! says to use flat cutting pads with this product.  I laughed out loud.  When was the last time I had a flat cutting pad?  But my buddies at Stampin’ Addicts pointed out that Framelits and Edgelits don’t warp your pads.  So I’ve dedicated pads just for those dies, and despite being very cut up, they worked beautifully with the Magnetic Platform!

Stamp campers, look forward to seeing this from now on!

  1. I just got my magnetic platform yesterday!!! Thanks for the tip on dedicating a set of plates for use with this platform. I already have a set dedicated to embossing.
