Honeybee love

Debra Burgin 1206 Honeybee loveAnd finally, the last camp card from June.  I was holding back on this one because I wanted to send it in to Stampin’ Up! for a contest.  However, that didn’t happen, so here it is!

This is one of the most unusual color combinations I’ve ever used.  I was challenging myself to incorporate Summer Starfruit, a color that is way, way outside my comfort zone.  (But as they said at Convention, “Life begins just outside your comfort zone!”)

And I just loved the touch of it in this card.  Of course, this ribbon is absolutely luscious — in all the colors — and some of the edginess of Summer Starfruit is (mercifully) missing from it.  If you can stand another Convention observation, the concept artists at my first class were crazy in love with this color.  It made me wonder what I was so afraid of.

BTW, part of me wanted to turn this sideways.  I like it either way.

I think I’ve got one more card in my stash using this DIY DSP.  Maybe I’ll post it when I’m at a loss for words.
