Now that this card is in the hands of my fellow swappers, I am feeling free to post it. When I signed up for a Christmas card swap with my friends at Stampin’ Addicts, I intended to go in a totally different direction. But when my Holiday Catalog pre-order came, I immediately saw the die-cut snowflakes in vellum as a great background for this skate tag.
It’s not very obvious in the image here, but to give greater contrast between the skates and the tag, I first stamped on Shimmery White (not as bright a white as Whisper White), then outlined the skates in Crumb Cake, then painted them with Whisper White crayon. Don’t overlook that crayon! Painted over another color, it can provide contrast and the feeling of light. Watercoloring is not just about color — it’s also about the absence of color!
