Not just for paper any more

Debra Burgin Doily brownieOne of the desserts yesterday was my Chewy Chocolate Brownies, dressed up for the occasion with a powdered sugar stencil.  Do you recognize the Paper Doily Sizzlits Die?  I cut it from paper — nothing fancier needed, since I was pretty sure it wasn’t going on a card when I was finished with the brownies.  Use a small mesh sifter to sprinkle the powdered sugar, then lift the stencil straight up from the brownie so the sugar still on the stencil doesn’t mess things up.

(BTW, it’s not that the coffee mug is gigantic, it’s that I cut the brownies rather small.  A 9″ x 13″ pan yields 36 brownies in my world.)

A platter full of these is very fun — and delicious!

  1. Believe it or not, I already used the doily to stencil powdered sugar on brownies. It was my daughter’s idea. Unfortunately, my kids ate them all and I never got a photo.
