Welcome to the Occasions Mini Blog Hop!

Welcome to Stampin’ Addicts‘ latest blog hop — the last one of 2011 and first of 2012!  As you can tell, we’re featuring projects from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog that will be live next Wednesday.

I’m stop #12, so you may have just seen Shelley’s Mouthwatering projects on her blog, Miss Mad Stamper.  Even though it’s winter, who can resist one of these fresh and icy treats?

I never take the easy product to work with for these hops, but the challenge of using the Fashionable Hearts Embosslits Die (page 35, if you’re following along in your mini) almost did me in!  I love using Embosslits, but I wasn’t prepared for just how small these pieces are.  I can’t imagine how you could make even the largest heart a focal point, so I needed to use them as accents.  You saw one project in yesterday’s post; today I’ll present NBC (nothing but cards).

(To keep your stop short and sweet, I am omitting recipes and tips for the projects — check back next week!   Click to enlarge the photos, please.)

Each year I seem to make my husband a red and black Valentine’s Day card, leaving aside girly pinks and getting a little edgier.  Inspired by the Love Story icon, I designed this Fashionable Love card to fit a Small Open-End Envelope.  Just a bit of Vanilla ink on the largest Fashionable Heart pops the houndstooth embossing.

Debra Burgin Fashionable LoveNext, this Fashionable Valentine takes Conversation Hearts to the next level.  Cutting just the second-largest heart (with golf-ball like dimples), I smooshed each one into VersaMark and embossed with Iridescent Ice.  The effect is sugary and intense — perhaps just like your Valentine?  I hope you can see the parallel lines embossed along each edge.

Debra Burgin Fashionable ValentineHearts = Valentine’s Day, right?  Maybe so far, but not always!  Here’s a card to wish my sister a Fashionable Birthday next week, with lots of love.  If you don’t enjoy fussy gluing, this is not the project for you!  This color combination (Bravo Burgundy, Riding Hood Red, and Blushing Bride) is surprisingly sophisticated.

Debra Burgin Fashionable BirthdayFinally, I’ve created a Fashionable Bunny card that would be perfect for a baby shower or springtime greeting.  The row of Embosslits hearts in various sizes is a sweet border that plays well with the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder.

Debra Burgin Fashionable BunnyI hope you were inspired to look at this new product in a fresh way!  But there’s more inspiration ahead!  You’re now on to the next stop on the hop, Carmen’s blog, Stamping Addiction, to check out all she’s done with the stamp set Send Me Soaring.  Let’s go fly a kite!

You made me go hold RHR up to Burgundy and wow! I don’t have blushing bride, but I bet that would be really pretty. Now off to SA to pick your brain about a couple things you used. : )
