Memorial Day is a holiday I love. It begins with a brief parade uptown, then a group walk to our local historic mansion, then band music and speeches. Must have tissue handy! We travel to a nearby cemetery (one without our own kin in it) for more music and speeches. And more damp eyes.
Maybe it’s my age or the times in which we live, but more than ever I appreciate this formal time of remembering those who have sacrificed for me.
I do have a Memorial Day page in my Favorite Things book, but I like this, the cover to my first MDS book, because of the flag.
