Woven ribbon revisted

Debra Burgin On the Grow spotlightThis card, from the Stampin’ Addicts blog hop of a couple of weeks ago, features 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon woven through a strip created with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch.  It’s a simple thing:  just carefully cut a slit with the Hobby Blade vertically between pairs of dots.  Leaving the ribbon on the spool, wrap a bit of scotch tape around the end for stability, then weave it up and down through the slits.  Adhere and trim, then use the ribbon on your project.

I like this embellishment because it reminds me of some of the summer dresses from my youth.  I was big on making a basic dress and changing the accessories.

So I recently ran across this picture of me and my date leaving for Homecoming Dance.  Can you say 1970s?  My dress matched our refrigerator, I’m just saying.  Anyway, I think I made a kind of loose belt in the manner of the trim on this card.

I hope I didn’t ruin this for you!

I can say 1970s 🙂 I don’t think I ever saw your hair like that INRL. Kind of Katherine Hepburn? It’s so cute!

  2. Great technique. Will definitely give it a try.
