First smile of spring

Debra Burgin upline meetingWell, maybe not, but this is the first card I’ve made using this sentiment, anyway!

There is a certain springlike feeling around here.  Tulips and daffies are poking up through the mud, and that’s always encouraging!  Last week the baby and I went for a couple of long walks, all bundled up.  (I walked and pushed, he rode.)  I look forward to putting the gloves away for another year.

We made this card at Monday’s Heartfelt Inkspiration group meeting.  I wanted to show them the “secret” to getting this ruffled ribbon effect.  (I’ll share it with you next Tuesday.)  The cherry blossom panel was inspired by the swap card of one of our Super Saturday stampers and is achieved by coloring the blossoms with the Signo Gel Pen.

Our meeting was both informative and fun.  We got to talking about samples we had seen on the web and wondering about techniques — so we just pulled stuff out of cabinets and drawers and tried different things.  It’s great to be able to bounce ideas off each other like this.  We can always learn something new!
