From the vault #4

Debra Burgin Vault 4This is from my stash of cards I want to keep forever!  I believe I made this at a local Stampin’ Up! demonstrator shoebox swap about five years ago.  As I recall the evening, we were each to design a card that had plenty of WOW factor to it.  I seem to remember two tables of us, so perhaps there were eight or ten boxes.  We were there LATE.  Really, really late.  We had been under such pressure to show off, our techniques were way too time consuming.  Great cards, but exhausting to make!

Why I love this card (which I didn’t design, BTW):

  • The colors (Ruby Red, Not Quite Navy, and Mellow Moss — really classic SU!)
  • The technique (emboss resist)
  • The stamp set (I’m pretty sure this was a Sale-A-Bration set years ago; I used it all the time)

Do you like this, too?

Actually, no, not my favorite. The moss doesn’t seem right to me. Almost makes the brighter colors dull. Also, there’s too much going on with the eyelets, stamped base, stamped panel, looks like a crimped strip, and tearing. Sorry, but you asked…

  2. I love this! Lots of fun details on this card!!!

  3. I love your blog! So many great techniques. I’m passing on the Stylish Blogger Award. Check out my blog for details.
