Sweet little sailboat

DH wonders what I’ll do with something this small (3″ x 3″).  Well, I h0pe it will accompany a shower gift for our grandchild-to-be fairly soon!

This took a silly amount of time for something so small.  I love paper piecing, but since this stamp is a sold image, it obviously doesn’t provide an outline to cut out.  So, I inked up the stamp in VersaMark, stamped on Designer Series Paper (three different patterns), embossed in clear EP, and then I could see (in strong light) what I was cutting.  The embossing powder adds texture and shine.

I chose a scallop circle of vellum card stock as the mat so as not to distract from the boat.  Popping it up (and all the boat parts on top of it) provides interest.  A little bit of piercing in the corner balances the layout.  A strand of embroidery floss across the boat and a Bitty Button lined with card stock and tied with the same floss complete the embellishments.

Stamps:  Nursery Necessities (retiring)

Ink:  VersaMark

Paper:  Ballet Blue (retiring), Vellum Card Stock, Pawsitively Prints DSP (retiring), Pretty in Pink

Other:  Scallop Circle #2 die, Heat Tool and Stampin’ Emboss Powder (Clear), Bitty Button, Heart to Heart Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, embroidery floss
